On May 18, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office
received a report of Breaking and Entering and Larceny at a residence on Highway 264 East in the Douglas Crossroads community. The victim reported that someone broke into her home and stole assorted jewelry. The Sheriff's Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews. Evidence collected at the scene was sent to the NCSBI Lab in Raleigh for DNA analysis.
Based on the Lab results, Investigator Jim Martin applied for and obtained a warrant on June 24, 2010 charging Hubert Edward Napier, age 50, of Twiggs County, Virginia with Felony Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny. Napier was staying at an area hotel when the crime occurred.
Until recently, Napier served time with the Georgia Department of Corrections. Once paroled, Napier was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center to be served. On September 20, 2011, Napier was served with a True Bill of Indictment for Felony Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny. Napier was held in the Detention Center on a $30,000.00 secured bond
