PRESS RELEASE

      On August 8th, 2011 at approximately 12:32 a.m., Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office assisted the North Carolina State Highway Patrol with an arrest at a license check point at the intersection of Highway 33 and Mill Road in Chocowinity, NC. Troopers had approached a vehicle operated in a suspicious manner near the check point. The Trooper discovered that the driver may be under the influence of alcohol. During a search of the vehicle, digital scales and plastic baggies were recovered. A pill bottle containing several individually packaged white, rock-like pieces consistent with crack cocaine was found near the vehicle.

    As a result of information and evidence collected by the NCSHP and BCSO, Jermaine Devonne Moore, age 37, of Firetower Road in Greenville, NC was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The NCSHP charged Moore with Driving While Impaired. Moore was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $1,800.00 secured bond set by Magistrate Jasper Mills.
