Thomas Dempsey Apprehended


PRESS RELEASE

    On July 2, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a breaking and entering of a residence located on Beach Road in Chocowinity, N.C. During the break-in a riding lawn mower, generator, freezer, refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer were stolen. A deputy responded to the scene and the Sheriff's Office began an investigation.

    On July 7, 2011, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a Crimes Stoppers tip on the location of the stolen riding lawn mower and generator. The items were recovered at a residence on Nelson Farm Road in Chocowinity and a suspect was identified.

    As a result of information obtained during the investigation, Investigator Robert Gaskins obtained a warrant charging Thomas Glenn Dempsey, age 53, of Nelson Farm Road in Chocowinity with one count of Felony Breaking and Entering and one count of Larceny after Breaking and Entering. Dempsey was arrested on August 2, 2011, and confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $4,000.00 secured bond.
