PRESS RELEASE
On July 29, 2011, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested Ashton Maurice Jones, 27, of Washington. Jones' arrest stemmed from investigators conducting undercover controlled purchases of Mephedrone, a white powdery substance often referred to as "Bath Salt."
On the date of his arrest, Jones was found to be in possession of "Bath Salt" in his hotel room at the Days Inn in Washington. Jones was charged with three counts of Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Mephedrone and Felony Possession of Mephedrone. Jones was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.
