PRESS RELEASE

    A Beaufort County Patrol Deputy attempted a traffic stop on Carolina Ave at approximately 11:30 pm on 07/14/11. The driver of the vehicle changed direction, ran a stop sign and sped away traveling South on Highway 17. The Deputy notified Communications that the driver was refusing to stop and pursued the vehicle. The driver continued on Hwy 17 South into Craven County. The driver threw an item out of his vehicle window in Craven County then reentered Beaufort County on the dirt portion of Haw Branch Rd. The driver struck a deer on Gray Rd and the vehicle was disabled. Deputies then took John Michael Millaway, age 21, into custody without further incident.
