PRESS RELEASE

    On July 4, 2011, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Deputy Toby Woolard with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division assisted a North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper with a traffic stop on Page Road in Washington. During the stop, a plastic bag containing eight smaller bags of marijuana was recovered from a door armrest. Unopened cigars and an open container of alcohol were also discovered.

    As a result, Deputy Woolard arrested Ameole Ramone Peele Jr., age 19, of Cherry Lane in Chocowinity and charged him with Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Maintaining a Vehicle to Keep Controlled Substances. Peele was cited for failing to wear a seatbelt and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond. A passenger in the vehicle was cited for possession of an open container of alcohol.
