    Washington Police had issued an Amber Alert for Desi Shanta Mylove Worthington, age 2, which has now been cancelled.

    While completing the press release with reliable information the Child has been located safe in New Bern and has been verified by law enforcement.

    Washington Police thanks all involved in the rapid response to locate this child after her mother was the victim of a medical event and was unable to provide much information while being treated at local hospitals for what appeared to be evidence that indicated a criminal act. A detailed investigation into her injuries is continuing, but at this time there is no search for a suspect in what was believed to be an assault until more information was obtained.

    A special thanks goes out to all news media that offered assistance and local law enforcement agencies that took a quick and helpful response which resulted in the determination of where the child was safely located. No further information related to this incident can be released until further investigation is complete.
