Sheriff's Office arrests men for stealing metal equipment

On Jan. 28, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a larceny of metal equipment from a property on Tuten Road in Blount's Creek. Deputies responded to the area and located two suspects in a wooded area off Little Egypt Road. The Sheriff's Office began an investigation and conducted interviews.

During the investigation, investigators learned that a trailer and a Bobcat loader, used by the suspects to move the metal, were also stolen. All of the stolen metal was recovered and returned to the owner.

As a result, Investigator Wesley Waters arrested Shelton Van Lilly, age 34, of Campbell Road in Vanceboro, and Gregory Adams, age 44, of River Road in Vanceboro. Lilly and Adams were each charged with one count of Felony Larceny. Lilly and Adams were each held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $3,000 secured bond set by Magistrate David Curtis.
