Jewel Projects her Spirit into the Season |
|
Publisher's note: One might say that this post and the preceding post, in this spirit-filled category, of Sarah McLachlan is our version of the "Lilith Fair" Christmas. Maybe I can find a suitable Paula Cole Christmas carol - another performer from that "Lilith Fair" Summer, whom I have a tremendous amount of respect for.
Jewel Kilcher is probably the single most talented performer / songwriter, in terms of ballads, in the last 20 years. When I grew up during the Golden Age of Classic Rock, I developed a pure taste for great music. Jewel would have been a huge talent in those heady days.
The reason for her probable popularity during that Golden Age - sincerity of creative spirit, and her emotional singleness of purpose. Understandably, her magnificent melodic abilities complement so well the subtle beauty of any well crafted Christmas Carol.
Jewel performs her heart out every time she hits the stage. She leaves it all on that platform, where her spirit of pure talent sets her apart from almost everyone else.
We have two carols for you tonight: the first one is Jewel's rendition of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing." The second is her own creation: "Hands," which is a very spirit filled song, but not so much a Christmas Carol. It is probably one of my favorite Jewel songs, and will be a true classic after we are all gone from this earth.
Below is the beautiful spirit filled song "Hands." Jewel wrote this song when she was in her young twenties, and I find it so remarkable how someone this young can create such pure art. Truly remarkable. This rendition of "Hands" is her Christmas version.
Here below is Jewel's acoustical solo version of her soon-to-be-classic:
Dateline: 12052011 @ 12:33 pm. This Jewel submission just in from Alex Fender Ralte.
Me thinks my friend, Alex, likes the country side of Jewel. A cool side note here is that the multi-talented Jewel is married to Bronco Bull Rider Ty Murray. Lucky guy.
An intimate moment: Husband, Ty Murray, and Jewel Kilcher Murray with their recent familial addition.
